After slaying all those in Jezreel, he did the same in Samaria the capital (II Kings 10:17), and even Ahab’s more distant relatives from Judah (II Kings 10:13-14). Jehu finally destroyed all the leaders of Baal worship in Israel (II Kings 10:20-28). Thus was the prophetic word of both Elijah and Elisha fulfilled (I Kings 21:21-24; II Kings 9:8-9).
